Yong Zhang is co-head of Asia (ex-Japan) for Thornburg Investment Management. He is responsible for the company’s Asia business, leading the sales and distribution efforts across the company’s institutional, intermediary, and international lines of business in Asia.
Prior to joining Thornburg, Yong was executive director of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, charged with developing business in China. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he spent a decade at State Administration of Foreign Exchange, where, as a senior portfolio manager and business leader, he led high-performing teams that built up external managers portfolios across fixed income, equity, hedge fund and other alternatives, and also served as key person to set up SAFE NY co/direct investment platform.
Raised in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in China, Yong received a MA in econometrics from North China University of Technology in Beijing.
