Mark Zinkula, CFA
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director
Mark Zinkula is chief executive officer of Thornburg Investment Management. He joined the firm in 2023.
Prior to Thornburg, Mark served as CEO of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), where he broadened the firm’s investment capabilities, products, distribution channels, and global presence. During his tenure, LGIM experienced significant growth and became one of the 10 largest asset managers globally. Previously, he was CEO of Legal & General Investment Management America (LGIMA), helping build the startup into a major institutional platform. Earlier in his career, Mark was global head of fixed income at Aegon Asset Management.
Beyond his executive career, Mark has extensive governance experience across corporate, regulatory, and nonprofit organizations. He has served on boards and advisory councils including Legal & General Plc, Diamond Hill, Financial Reporting Council, The Investment Association, UK Government Asset Management Taskforce, UK Green Finance Taskforce, Diversity Project, FICC Markets Standards, and National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library.
Mark holds a BA in economics from Central College, as well as an MA and MBA from the University of Iowa. He also completed a year-long program in mathematical and statistical sciences at the London School of Economics. Mark is a CFA charterholder.
