What to Know

Investment-related scams, particularly those involving a bad actor impersonating legitimate businesses, are increasingly prevalent. At Thornburg, we are committed to helping the investing public know when and how to spot potential scams and understand whether a particular communication has been legitimately sent by us. Keeping you safe is our priority. Read on for more details about what we do (and don’t do) as a company.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Sensitive Personal Information

    Thornburg will never send an unsolicited instant message, email, or other electronic communication to a current or prospective client or shareholder asking them to respond with their personal account information, such as username, password, or Social Security number.

  • Instant Messaging

    Thornburg does not solicit the public to join investment groups, market investment products or services, or provide investment advice to individual investors through text messages or instant messaging platforms such as WhatsApp. If you are approached on these platforms by someone claiming to work at or on behalf of Thornburg, the communication is fraudulent. Please report the solicitation to cyberfraud@thornburg.com.

  • Email

    Thornburg uses the domain thornburg.com for all email communications. If you are contacted by someone not using this email domain claiming to be from Thornburg or the email otherwise seems suspicious, assume the communication is fraudulent. Do not click any links and report the email immediately to cyberfraud@thornburg.com.

  • Social Media

    Thornburg does not communicate through direct messaging services such as WhatsApp or social media platforms such as LinkedIn, X, Facebook, or Instagram. If are contacted via these means by someone claiming to work at or on behalf of Thornburg, the communication is fraudulent. Please report the activity to cyberfraud@thornburg.com.

  • Mobile Apps

    Thornburg does not have any mobile apps. If you are directed to install a mobile app, the app could be fraudulent. Please report the activity to cyberfraud@thornburg.com.

  • Call Us

    Contact us immediately if you suspect fraudulent activity. Contact us.

If you think you have been the victim of an investment fraud

If you believe you have been the victim of an investment scam, you can report the matter to several different law enforcement and regulatory agencies. You can submit tips and complaints about internet-based crimes to the FBI via these websites: Electronic Tip Form or Internet Crime Complaint Center(IC3). You can also submit tips, complaints and referrals to the SEC or FINRA.
